Celebrating Absalom Jones

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral will host the Union of Black Episcopalians in their fifth annual celebration of the Blessed Absalom Jones.

This celebration will include our special guests, the Rector and Choir of the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas in Philadelphia, PA. The Very Rev. Dr. Canon Martini Shaw, 17th rector of this historic church, will preach. The celebrant for the Holy Eucharist will be the Rt. Rev. Dr. Audrey C. Scanlan, XI Bishop of Central Pennsylvania. Concelebrants will be the Rt. Rev. Dr. Nathan D. Baxter, retired bishop of Central Pennsylvania, the Very Rev. Dr. Amy D. Welin, Dean of St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Very. Rev. Dr. Canon Martini Shaw.

The celebration will begin on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11 a.m. A reception and essay contest presentations will follow the service.
