First Floor
All upper floors were originally simply broad open space
utilized for parking of cars. Cars were raised to the floors by an
elevator capable of supporting the size and weight of most vehicles.
Since the original elevator was quite large, and was to be
replaced by a smaller passenger elevator capable of handling up to ____
individuals (_____ pounds), most of the elevator shaft needed to have new
flooring installed. Some of the pictures below show the floor
preparation, which included steel reinforcing and concrete.
The first and second floors are very similar, except for
the number and size of classrooms. The classrooms on the first
floor are smaller. There is also a larger common-use area.
Each floor has its own set of bathrooms.
The first floor is approximately the same elevation as
the ground floor of the "old school" (Cathedral House) and the Nave of
the Cathedral.
