Outreach Ministry

A vital part of the downtown Harrisburg community, St Stephen's participates in major riverfront festivals that take place along the nearby Susquehanna River.

Programs for the community inside the cathedral are a visible witness of involvement in the community. Also, the cathedral opens its facilities for use by a wide variety of community organizations.

St Stephen's Outreach Coordinating Committee

offers a number of programs for those who need assistance.

Parish Nurse

This program provides consultation to parishioners with special health needs, and offers wellness education to the parish.

Urban Programs

The cathedral is significantly involved in Harrisburg's Hall Manor housing project through the Children's Checkup Center, Head Start, and a weekly story hour and mentoring program.

Food Ministries

These include collections taken every Sunday for the Food Pantry, provision of a working space for Helping Hands Ministries of Harrisburg, Inc. serving a hot meal to the homeless and needy of Harrisburg www.helpinghandsministries.org and participation in the annual CROP Walk against hunger.
